Keep Stretching and Yoga Within a Comfortable Range

Choose suitable movements and avoid forcing a pose or pushing through pain.

Movement range differs

Flexibility depends on joint structure, activity and injury history. Stretching and yoga may support aspects of movement, balance or well-being, but greater flexibility is not automatically better health. They do not guarantee injury prevention or posture correction.

Choose an appropriate practice

Warm up gently, move slowly and breathe comfortably. Do not bounce or force a joint to match another person’s range. A short practice can be an option, with no required daily duration. Modify or leave out a pose that does not suit you.

Stop when something feels wrong

Release a position if there is sharp pain, tingling or joint pressure. Pregnancy, osteoporosis, hypermobility, recent surgery and injuries may require specific modifications or avoidance. Ask a qualified clinician or instructor for individual guidance.
